List of Selected NCHRP Topics for FY 2022

List of all selected NCHRP FY 22 Regular Topics and NCHRP Synthesis Topics

Three FY 22 NCHRP Problem Statements and NCHRP Synthesis Ideas were submitted by Committee Research Coordinators Thomas Mc Queen (GDOT) and Charles Edwards (UNC) supported by state DOTs.

The statements went through evaluation and ranking by AASHTO, FHWA, and NCHRP staff. Two sponsored and one cosponsored idea was selected, here are the topics submitted and selected:

  • Guidance on Improving Truck Traffic Estimates in “Design Traffic” Forecasts. (Project 08-153 Guidance on Improving Truck Traffic Estimates in “Design Traffic” Forecasts)
  • Improving Freight Origin & Destination (OD) Data to Advance the Capabilities of Freight Forecasting Models
  • Freight Analysis Tool for Analyzing and Communicating Uncertainty to Decisionmakers (Similar idea was selected as an RFP Project 08-154 Guidebook/Toolbox for Agencies to Incorporate Uncertainty into Long-Range Transportation Planning)
  • NCHRP Synthesis Topic: Use of Probe Data for Freight Planning and Operations (NCHRP Synthesis 20-05/Topic 53-14 Use of Probe Data for Freight Planning and Operations)
  • Co-sponsored Problem Statement Idea Project 08-158 Communicating the Value, Interactions, and Impacts of Freight to Stakeholders. The idea was sponsored and developed by Urban Freight Committee (AT025)
