Our Committee members and friends have been active and tireless volunteers who have promoted research and professional interactions to stimulate the discussion of freight policy. This Committee has enjoyed keen interest from various groups in membership. The Committee maintains an ideal mix between public and private sectors as well as academic researchers.
The Committee strives to promote a more productive and in-depth discussion of public, private strategies. It requires that any member added to the Committee must be a willing and active contributor.
The committee has 700+ affiliated friends. 245 of them have chosen not to disclose their racial background. Of the 487 who did, 4% (20 friends) are black and 10% (48 friends) are Hispanic/Latino.
The Committee has 34 diverse members. With the new committee rotation, 49% of the committee members are from minority groups. This includes 8% black (3 members) and 9% Hispanic/Latino (3 members), both of which are historically underrepresented in the area of freight. Among those who reported their gender, 44% of the committee members are female.
